Brayden Point, Nick Perbix, and Steven Stamkos were the game’s three stars.
The Lightning clearly have made this road trip a measuring stick moment in their season after going just .500 on the road up until this point. So, putting the sideshow of Stamkos’ pursuit of his 500th goal aside, tonight was big for Tampa Bay getting off on the right foot. They had a sleepy start defensively to fall behind early, but ultimately wrestled control of the run off play back halfway through the opening frame and had control of it for nearly the entire rest of the game.
Nick Perbix had a goal and an assist and was +1 with 1 shot in 8:38. His goal was a bit of a howler by Binnington, but the odds say you’ll get those from time to time if you can gets shots on net. Unfortunately, Perbix seemed to get some sort of shoulder injury late in the Second Period, so we’ll see if his being held out of the final period was precautionary or if he’s going to miss some time.
