Matt Tomkins allowed three goals on 40 shots for the win as Syracuse was outshot 40-24 in Toronto with Lilleberg and Thompson called up to Tampa Bay and two ECHL-level d-men in the lineup.

That’s a tough place to win even with a full lineup let alone with losing arguably the team’s top pair to call up. In that spot, you need your goaltender to step up and Tomkins did.
Syracuse still sits in second place in the North Division, now seven points back of first place Cleveland, which has been on a blistering 8-2-0 pace in their last 10 while Syracuse has been scuffling along at 3-5-2. It’s going to take a reversal of fortune on the streak front for the Crunch to reel the Monsters back in.
