NHL Game Night: 12-15-22 Blue Jackets at Lightning

Patient Lightning eventually put away lowly Blue Jackets.

CBJ-1
TB-4

Brian Elliott allowed one goal on 25 shots for the win. The one was a bit soft in my mind and he probably should’ve had the clean sheet.

First Period
3:57 TB Bellemare (1), (Namestnikov, Hedman)

Second Period
3:10 CBJ Marchenko (2), (Sillinger, Gudbranson)

Third Period
9:02 TB Point (16), (Hagel, Kucherov)
13:36 TB Hagel (9), (Kucherov, Hedman)
17:19 TB Hagel (10), (Kucherov, Cole)(EN)

Brayden Point, Elliott, and Nikita Kucherov were the game’s three stars.

This could’ve been a game where the team got frustrated because I thought Tarasov got lucky a few times in the First Period and this could’ve been a blood bath early, but they ended up in a tie game into the Third Period. But the team stayed patient and eventually got the go ahead goal and pulled away from there on. Two more insurance points and one more game in this segment to try to pick up two more.

Nick Perbix was +1 with 1 hit and 2 blocked shots in 22:43 compensating for the absence of Sergachev from the lineup. Kind of a mixed bag with the extra workload where I thought there were a couple of uncharacteristically rough plays in his own end but, at the other end, he looked pretty good on the second PP unit.
