Andrei Vasilevskiy returned from the COVID list and allowed four goals on 21 shots for the loss. Probably a bit rusty after a couple of weeks out of action.

NO SCORING

Sometimes you outplay a team and one or two mistakes or one or two bouts of puck luck create an outcome on the scoreboard that isn’t reflective of the run of play. That kind of was how I felt about this afternoon. The Lightning outshot and outchanced the Rangers by a pretty wide margin, but the Rangers got the power plays and converted on them and before you knew it the game was a laugher. The team not only got Vasilevskiy back, but also Cirelli and Cernak. So, it’s close to getting to a full compliment with Kucherov (and also Bogosian) I think the only ones still missing. After the insanity of this Omicron Holiday, the Lightning just need some practice time and some games to get the PK pounded back into shape and get their regulars re-integrated.

Boris Katchouk had 1 shot, 4 hits, and 1 blocked shot in 10:44.

Ross Colton had 4 shots and 1 hit in 12:57. He was also 40% on 5 draws.

No offense to the kids, but it’s probably a relief to the coaches to have a much shorter list of rookies on the rink for the first time in a long time.
