These last two games have been embarrassing. Not for lack of goal scoring. Sometimes you just go through droughts where the chances don’t go in for you. The embarrassment is the uneven effort, especially defensively, by some of these veterans. Attention to details and staying switched on defensively. It’s not there right now. And, unfortunately, the cap situation with the roster doesn’t really allow for the kind of lineup moves that might reinforce discipline amongst one or two passengers on the team.

Cal Foote was -1 in 12:50. He had a rough First Period and played less as the game went on.

Ben Thomas had 1 shot and 1 hit in 12:49. With time, he’s a deft little puck mover. Not unlike Rutta in some ways. I’m scared to see what happens if a forechecker catches him, but he’s been pretty slick getting the puck away clean thus far.

Ross Colton had a goal and was +2 with 2 shots and 1 blocked shot in 8:10. He was also 50% on 8 draws. Up to five goals already? Whatever he’s eating for a pre-game meal, I know a few veteran scorers on this team who might want to mix it into their dietary choices, because right now he’s the only one scoring consistently.
