The Lightning sauntered into yet another 1 pm matinee bristling with overconfidence against the young Wings. So confident, in fact, they didn’t blink at starting their third string goaltender or a rookie defenseman. Great. You’re the champs. Those sort of things should work… but not if you don’t give the full measure of goal support and defensive intensity across the board. Not going to harp on it too much because a certain degree of buzzard’s luck was in play and they did hold Detroit to 18 SOG. Still, absent Cernak and Rutta, this just doesn’t feel like the genuine article right now.

Cal Foote had a helper and was +1 with 3 shot and 2 blocked shots in 18:23.

Ben Thomas was -1 with 1 shot in 14:23. Lord, you waited your whole life to play a game in the NHL and you have to do it on the downside of a stinker like this one. So sorry, Ben.

Ross Colton had 2 shots in 11:04. He was also 57% on 7 draws.
