Nikita Kucherov, Steven Stamkos, and Mitchell Chaffee were the game’s three stars.
The Lightning had a beatable opponent tonight and they proceeded to beat the brakes off of them. That’s a step forward from earlier this season, albeit it’s partly because Ingram couldn’t stop a beach ball for Arizona tonight. Once again, the Syracuse call ups provided a different energy that, along with Nikita Kucherov’s MJ-like pursuit of the scoring title, have propelled much of the team’s recent hot streak.
Waltteri Merela had a helper and was +2 with 2 hits in 7:18.
Mitchell Chaffee had his first NHL goal and was +2 with 1 shot and 3 hits in 8:29.
Max Crozier had a helper, 5 penalty minutes, 2 shots, 2 hits, and 2 blocked shots in 16:26. Mixed bag tonight. Defensive zone coverage was a minus. Offensive zone play was a plus. Standing up for himself in a fight against Crouse was a double plus.
Emil Lilleberg had a helper, 1 shot, 3 hits, and 2 blocked shots in 18:03.
