Tyler Motte and Johansson were the game’s first and second stars.
The Lightning only managed a mere 16 shots on goal in the match in a game where there was very few offensive chances for either team. Fortunately, the Lightning jumped on Buffalo enough early to make that low shot total work.
The Lightning have come a long way to getting back on real playoff pace with this 5 game win streak, but they have still more to go. Keeping the streak alive a few games longer is imperative. Now in the fifth 10-game segment of the campaign, the team still needs seven of a possible eight points over the next four games to be comfortable with their standings position. They don’t have to make the whole margin up this segment, mind you, but if they can keep this run going they can at least turn a deep hole into a small rut, with 32 games left to play at the end of this segment.
Waltteri Merela had 1 blocked shot in 7:29.
Max Crozier was -1 with 1 shot and 2 hits in 13:32.
Emil Lilleberg was -1 with 3 hits and 2 blocked shots in 14:08.
