Nikita Kucherov and Alex Barre-Boulet were the game’s second and third stars.

It’s time to adjust the whole Third Period rope-a-dope strategy of trying to just absorb pressure when you have a lead against that team, because it keeps not working. They’re terrible defensively. Stay on the gas instead of turtling, or you’ll keep getting poor outcomes like this one. And it’s an extra point they could’ve really used to keep pace early in the campaign.

Alex Barre-Boulet had a goal, 3 shots, and 1 hit in 15:09. He’s looking more confident and comfortable to me than I can recall at this level.

Waltteri Merela had 3 shots and 1 hit in 11:38. There are times he makes some really strong power forward-type plays and times he looks completely like a fish out of water.

Darren Raddysh was -1 with 4 shots and 1 blocked shot in 19:22. Technically he’s still a prospect even though he’s playing top-four minutes. Thought he was incredibly active in the game tonight and very visible offensively.
