First Period
1:07 SYR Finley (11), (Fortier, Walcott)
4:38 SYR Usau (3), (Edmonds, Robert)
9:42 ROC Weissbach (19), (Malone)

Second Period
6:23 ROC Biro (16), (Rousek, Kulich)(PP)

Third Period
NO SCORING

Overtime
0:32 SYR Myers (8), (Barre-Boulet, Ryfors)

Phil Myers and Ilya Usau were the game’s first and third stars.

Absent Sean Day (injured) in Rochester in a big game, Syracuse held the Americans to 20 shots and outshot them 30-20 to get a big divisional victory. Impressive.

Syracuse moves two points clear of Rochester in second place in the North Division and three points clear of Utica with each team having five games left to play. The Crunch have a rematch with Rochester on Friday and their final four games of the season will include two against Utica and two against Laval, which currently clings to the final playoff spot in the division. Reminder: top three seeds in the division avoid a best-of-three opening round series, hence why it seems like every game has been a playoff game for the past couple of weeks. I love it. I think this weird playoff format has created some great high stakes developmental games for these teams, which is what you want.
