NHL Game Night: 3-11-25 Lightning at Hurricanes

Read Time:1 Minute, 5 Second

Lightning still disjointed in blowout loss.

TB-1
CAR-4

Andrei Vasilevskiy allowed four goals on 31 shots for the loss. The first two he surrendered, particularly the second, were soft serves that overshadowed some real quality saves he made in the Second Period. I wonder aloud about fatigue right now with the work load he’s been shouldering the last month.

First Period
4:29 CAR Jarvis (26), (Aho)(SH)

Second Period
12:56 CAR Martinook (12), (unassisted)
19:15 CAR Roslovic (20), (Hall, Chatfield)

Third Period
4:38 TB Goncalves (3), (Hagel, Raddysh)
6:26 CAR Walker (3), (Staal)

The Lightning played a solid first 20 minutes and then dissolved after the soft shorthanded goal. The Second Period was one of the worst displays of puck management I’ve ever seen with Vasilevskiy having to turn away 10-bell chance after 10-bell chance only to eventually give up a bad angle softie and then the dagger 2-on-1 just before the end of the period. The Lightning continue to struggle to find chemistry and renew their identity post trade deadline. Fortunately, Sunrise stubbed their toe against Boston tonight so the Lightning didn’t pay the full penalty in the standings.

Gage Goncalves has graduated from prospect status on the website. Congratulations.
