Conor Geekie, Dylan Duke, and Tomkins were the game’s three stars.
Well that certainly was terrifying. The Crunch, despite outshooting Rochester by a fantastic margin all game, found themselves down 3-2 in a sixth attacker desperation situation when Dylan Dyke tipped home arguably the biggest goal of the year thus far for the Crunch. Syracuse ultimately outshot Rochester 37-17 in the contest, but it took an extra round in the Shootout for Conor Geekie to secure the second point and, coupled with Belleville’s loss to Laval, the Crunch moved back into the final playoff spot in the North Division.
Just 20 games to go and every point is insanely precious. Pressure makes diamonds, and I’m sure the Lightning organization is pleased to see top prospects like Finley, Crozier, Duke, and Geekie rise to the occasion in a game with stakes like tonight’s.
