Nikita Kucherov, Vasilevskiy, and Jake Guentzel were the game’s three stars.

The Lightning blew the game wide open in less than 25 minutes of hockey and then kind of cruised the rest of the way. Although the shot total was lopsided (40-22 Detroit) the Lightning did manage the lead well. The victory puts the Lightning above that magic .600 threshold for points percentage in the jam-packed with games January schedule.

Mitchell Chaffee had a goal and was +1 with 4 penalty minutes, 1 shot, 4 hits, and 1 blocked shot in 9:44. He graduates from prospect status with one more appearance this season.

Max Crozier was +1 with 2 shots, 4 hits, and 3 blocked shots in 14:25 in his season debut at the NHL level. He’s got a window of opportunity right now with Cernak hurt and JJ Moser not quite ready to return, and if he stays paired with Ryan McDonagh he’s going to learn a ton.

Emil Lilleberg had a helper and was +1 with 3 hits and 3 blocked shots in 21:45. Lilleberg graduated from prospect status on the website with tonight’s appearance. From the team’s Western Canada trip on he’s turned a corner in his career and looks the part of a proper NHL defenseman.
