Syracuse pulls out yet another Third Period victory.
WBS-2
SYR-5
Brandon Halverson allowed two goals on 26 shots for the win. He was backed up by Hugo Alnefelt tonight, at least, but the status of Matt Tomkins remains a concern.
First Period
16:10 WBS Rueschhoff (9), (Ouellet, Koppanen)(PP)
Second Period
1:04 SYR Robert (12), (Myers, Koepke)
7:46 WBS Koppanen (6), (Ouellet, Andonovski)(PP)
13:09 SYR Myers (4), (Groshev, Robert)
Third Period
7:43 SYR Merela (12), (Koepke, Myers)
18:57 SYR Fortier (11), (Walcott, Robert)(EN)
19:58 SYR Barre-Boulet (3), (Koepke, Crozier)(EN)
Phil Myers, Felix Robert, and Cole Koepke were the game’s three stars.
Syracuse’s ability to pull away from teams in the Third Period remains an uncanny superpower attributable to their patient reliance on their defensive system and their overall depth. Tonight’s victory coupled with Cleveland’s loss to Hershey puts the two team tied atop the North Division with Syracuse holding a game in hand and a commanding six regulation win advantage in the first tiebreaker. The Crunch have a dozen games left to go in the regular season.
