Tampa Bay fails to respond.

OTT-4
TB-2

Andrei Vasilevskiy allowed four goals on 27 shots for the loss. If he doesn’t have a save percentage above .900, this team doesn’t seem to have a prayer right now.

First Period
10:45 OTT Stutzle (13), (Sanderson, Zub)
13:35 OTT Joseph (9), (Giroux, Stutzle)

Second Period
15:49 OTT Joseph (10), (Zub)
16:55 TB Chaffee (2), (unassisted)

Third Period
4:01 OTT Tarasenko (15), (Tkachuk, Pinto)
4:36 TB Point (28), (Hagel)

Mitchell Chaffee was the game’s third star.

The Lightning vowed to respond after their embarrassing effort against Sunrise. Instead, they played undisciplined hockey from a puck management standpoint that gave Ottawa counter attacking opportunities and again put them in a situation where they were facing huge swaths of the wrong side of garbage time in the Third Period. It’s especially disappointing when Stamkos, the captain of the team, vows something better and make a drop pass to nobody within five feet of his own blueline that results in the back breaking third goal the other way.

Alex Barre-Boulet had 1 shot, 3 hits, and 1 blocked shot in 7:42. He’s five appearances this season from finally graduating from prospect status on the site.

Mitchell Chaffee had a goal, 2 penalty minutes, 2 shots, 5 hits, and 1 blocked shot in 14:37. He’s gotten more comfortable the past couple of games and tonight was his best NHL game to date.

Emil Lilleberg was -1 with 2 shots and 2 hits in 17:31. Got burned badly on a First Period goal and settled down the rest of the way. Looked more engaged offensively than we’ve seen to this point in his NHL career.
