Overtime
4:59 SYR Carroll (9), (Groshev)

Joe Carroll, Phil Myers, and Waltteri Merela were the game’s three stars.

I’ll give a strong honorable mention to Max Groshev with two assists including a pretty inspired effort to beat two Utica defenders along the wall and kick pass a puck to Carroll for the OT winner at the death. Groshev went cold for a month and a half stretch but he’s starting to wake up on the scoresheet again with 1-4-5 in his last 8 games. This game also featured a Phil Myers goal 10 seconds into regulation and Syracuse scoring an own goal after pulling Tomkins for a penalty. A little bit of everything.

Syracuse sneaks within 4 points of first in the North Division with Cleveland now holding a game in hand. If the Monsters stumble, this could get interesting again.
