Vasilevskiy and Steven Stamkos were the game’s first and second stars.

The Lightning played this game without an injured Victor Hedman and with the lingering effects of the flu bug still running through the locker room. They got outshot 57-24 on the night and Edmonton dominated the run of play, but the Lightning got the goaltending and their big guns came through with the goal. They move back to .500 on the road trip with one game left to go in Calgary. The standings situation remains frightening as the team closed segment three of the campaign a full five points back of playoff pace. They’d have to get 15 of a remaining 18 points in segment four just to get back on pace, which seems unlikely, so they’ve set themselves in this unfortunate position of having to chip away at their deficit over the next quarter of the season. Still, if they can get out of this nightmare road trip .500 or better that will at least mitigate the damage and make it a little more manageable situation.

Conor Sheary’s return from injury playing a hand in two Steven Stamkos 5v5 goals was an unexpected surprise. Nice.

Alex Barre-Boulet had 2 hits and 1 blocked shot in 10:39.

Darren Raddysh had a helper and was +1 with 2 penalty minutes and 1 shot in 16:54.
