Redemption streak is on.
PIT-1
TB-3
Andrei Vasilevskiy allowed one goal on 24 shots for the loss. He would’ve had two straight clean sheets but for a puckhandling gaffe at the very end of the Third Period.
First Period
5:56 TB Cirelli (6), (Hedman, Kucherov)(PP)
Second Period
8:31 TB Kucherov (17), (Hedman, Stamkos)(PP)
17:04 TB Jeannot (6), (Eyssimont)
Third Period
19:07 PIT Guentzel (10), (Crosby)
Vasilevskiy, Nikita Kucherov, and Victor Hedman were the game’s three stars.
The Lightning absolutely dominated the first 32 minutes of the game, and managed to get the third goal toward the end of the Second Period to make this a laugher. It’s remarkable how fine the margins are in this sport, sometimes, when you look at the difference between a four game losing streak and a two game winning streak that should’ve been two straight shutouts.
Now comes a pivotal road trip. The situation the Lightning have put themselves in, they really need to keep this streak up on a roadie through Nashville, Seattle, Vancouver, Edmonton, and Calgary. 10 possible points, and they really need a big number (seven or eight) of what’s possible to get. The Lightning have not been good going back to last season on the road, so this will be a big test.
Alex Barre-Boulet had 3 shots, 1 hit, and 1 blocked shot in 14:22. He had some big chances in this game. Probably due for another goal.
Darren Raddysh was +1 with 1 shot and 3 blocked shots in 14:05.
