Halverson, Waltteri Merala, and Jack Thompson were the game’s three stars. You could see the relief in Merala’s posture after finally getting his first goal since coming to North America. It’s been a while and when you’re in a slump like that it starts to feel like you’re never going to light the lamp again, so it’s great he got that pressure off himself. Thompson, for his part, continued the hot start to his sophomore campaign. The young RHD is just a touch under halfway to the point total from 72 games in his rookie season.

Syracuse avenged their pre-Thanksgiving loss to Utica and their +11 goal differential is currently the best in the North Division.
