The Lightning entered this game needing one point to clinch a successful first 10-game segment of the year and they entered the Third Period with a one goal lead against an opponent that’s in the lower third of the league perennially. I’m not going to sit here and complain about style points early in the season, because they don’t matter, but when you start failing to hit your benchmarks for points in the standings that’s a source of upset and frustration. It’s just not good enough. This team’s got to get back to being able to lock down games in the Third Period.
So now they’re one point in the hole. Flush it. Segment two: go get at least 12 points in the next 10 games.
Alex Barre-Boulet had 1 blocked shot in 13:19.
Waltteri Merala had 2 penalty minutes, 1 shot, and 1 hit in 9:49.
Darren Raddysh had 1 shot and 2 blocked shots in 16:44.
