Vasilevskiy puts the team on his back.

TB-3
DET-0

Andrei Vasilevskiy had a 45 save shutout victory, tying the club record for saves in a shutout win. After a bum performance in Buffalo, he stood and delivered tonight when the club in front of him frankly did not.

First Period
9:04 TB Point (35), (Kucherov, Killorn)

Second Period
19:53 TB Kucherov (22), (Point, Paul)

Third Period
17:47 TB Killorn (15), (Hagel)(EN)

Vasilevskiy, Brayden Point, and Nikita Kucherov were the game’s three stars.

That was the worst breakout passing I’ve seen from a Lightning team in about a decade. Just horrible passing that allowed Detroit to hem the team in all night long to the tune of a 45-18 shot deficit. As bad as they looked against Buffalo, they looked worse tonight and other than Vasilevskiy none of them responded to the challenge of correcting the foolishness of that game against the Sabres. The calendar is about to switch over to March and this team, frankly, needs to pull its head out of its ass, collectively.
