NHL Game Night: 11-17-22 Flames at Lightning

6 0
Read Time:1 Minute, 29 Second

Lightning with a clean 60 minute effort for the first time in a while.

CGY-1
TB-4

Andrei Vasilevskiy allowed one goal on 40 shots for the win. The shot total seems high, but to be honest a lot of Calgary’s shots were from the outside and empty calories.

First Period
8:03 TB Stamkos (9), (Sergachev)

Second Period
18:16 TB Kucherov (8), (Stamkos, Sergachev)(PP)
4:53 CGY Lindholm (7), (Huberdeau, Toffoli)(PP)

Third Period
5:03 TB Myers (1), (unassisted)
19:46 TB Kucherov (9), (Hagel, Cole)(EN)

Vasilevskiy, Mikhail Sergachev, and Steven Stamkos were the game’s three stars.

If you read the box score and looked at the shots, which were 40-24 Calgary, you might’ve assumed this was a lopsided possession game. In reality, the Lightning felt comfortably in control pretty much the whole game and had a total team effort where their power play looked as good as it has in a while. It’s a three game winning streak now and this looks like the team is hitting their stride a bit. They just need three points over the next three games to be on solid playoff pace, so they’re in very good shape to possibly pick up some surplus points. To be absolutely honest, I was expecting (and frankly still think there’s been) a runner up hangover, so the team’s ahead of where I thought they’d be and they still haven’t gotten Bogosian and (more importantly) Cirelli back.

Cole Koepke had 4 hits in 8:30.

Nick Perbix was +1 with 1 shot, 1 hit, and 4 blocked shots in 11:15 before leaving in the Second Period with an injury. No word on what it was or severity. Hopefully nothing too serious.
