Steven Stamkos was the game’s second star.

This was not an altogether horrible game for the Lightning in that they dominated possession for most of the game. But the extra level of intensity and focus was lacking for most of the contest, culminating in Cernak’s ridiculous turnover on the game winning goal. This team just collectively doesn’t have their heads or their hearts in it right now. Are there exceptions? Sure, Stamkos being the most prominent. But as a team, they’ve sleepwalked into a situation where if they don’t get 10 of the next 12 possible points they’ll be behind schedule to make the playoffs at the end of the first ten game segment of the campaign.

Cole Koepke played 6:29.

Nick Perbix was -1 with 3 shots, 1 hit, and 1 blocked shot in 13:35 in his NHL debut. I think athletically he fits at this level. I think early in the game he was having some wide eyed moments adjusting to the speed at the NHL level, which is normal. But you can see the talent. The positioning, particularly in his own zone, is what he needs most to polish.
