This win by Syracuse marks a bit of a watershed moment standings wise. They’re back into a tie with Rochester at 72 points for second in the division. Nothing new there. But, for the moment, they’ve leaped over a group of three teams they’ve been scuffling behind all season and are now third in points percentage at .563 behind Utica, who seems uncatchable, and Laval, who has six games in hand and is five points in arrears to the Crunch. After going 7-3-0 in their last 10, the Crunch have come into control of their own destiny for the first time in a long time in the playoff race.
He’s not quite there yet, but ABB’s going to sneak into the top-20 in the AHL in scoring any day now. He’s just two points out of a tie for the 20th spot as I type with 50 points in 47 games.
