Corey Perry and Mikhail Sergachev were the game’s first and third stars.
On paper, this looked like another tough matchup a la the Colorado game where the Lightning were coming off a long layoff facing a team with a lot of speed. And, yes, the Lightning had some rust on them. Fortunately, Edmonton’s goaltending and defending is hardly Colorado quality and the Lightning escaped what might’ve been a schedule loss with all two points.
Cal Foote was -1 with 3 blocked shots in 8:21. Had a rough night. Foote is now five appearances from graduation from prospect status on the site.
