Rusty Syracuse sees its goaltending corrode completely against Cleveland.
CLE-8
SYR-3
Max Lagace allowed five goals on 10 shots for the loss before giving way to Amir Miftakhov who allowed three on six shots the rest of the way. Utterly putrid. A .500 save percentage. From both goaltenders.

Alex Barre-Boulet was the game’s third star. The Syracuse home media have not been shy to be homers about the three star selections this season, but geez… snowmanned 8-3 and you give any stars to the home team? C’mon.
Syracuse hadn’t played since 11/27 due to three games being postponed as COVID led to calling off two games with Rochester and a third with Wilkes-Barre/Scranton. So, the team being rusty in the First Period might’ve been explainable. I thought perhaps when they got back to 5-3 they’d found their footing to make this a more respectable outing, but the bottom obviously fell out in the Third Period. The team has slipped to last place in the North Division and this might be a rock bottom kind of loss. I know the problem’s not coaching given Ben Groulx’s history, but this is looking like a mighty difficult hill to climb at the moment.
