Syracuse can’t climb out of big, early hole.

BEL-3
SYR-2

Maxime Lagace allowed three goals on 17 shots for the loss. He came on in relief for Amir Miftakhov who left after 6:34 in which he stopped all 5 shots he faced. The removal appeared injury related after a goalmouth collision.

First Period
7:15 BEL Wilkie (2), (Pare, Aberg)(PP)
10:15 BEL Pare (1), (Daoust, Leslie)

Second Period
5:11 BEL Lucchini (7), (Sokolov, Guenette)
12:36 SYR Dumont (7), (Fortier, Hudon)(PP)

Third Period
10:29 SYR Fortier (4), (Huntington)

Gabriel Fortier and Remi Elie were the game’s first and second stars. Fortier’s multi-point night sits him at 4-6-10 through 15 games, which matches his AHL rookie point total that he posted in twice as many games.

Syracuse poured on the score effects in the final frame to the tune of a 21-2 shot advantage, but couldn’t find the equalizer. The Crunch now drop to two games under .500 and have fallen to the basement in the North Division. Silver lining: the team arguably looked even worse early last season only to have Ben Groulx work his magic for a strong second half, so there’s hope.
