Both teams play a possession-heavy game and in the Second Period Carolina tilted the ice and manufactured some goals off their possession advantage. Period, end of story. Expected goals at 5v5 were 2:1 in favor of the Hurricanes and that’s how they did it. The Lightning simply need to have more energy to make sure the game doesn’t devolve into a Canes onslaught of possession.
Alex Barre-Boulet was +1 with 1 shot, 1 hit, and 1 blocked shot in 16:45. He had glorious opportunities in this game and couldn’t cash in.
Ross Colton was -2 with 2 shots and 2 hits in 8:54. He was also 33% on 6 draws. I hate that the fourth line seems to have lost some of their momentum from a few weeks back.
