Bolt prospect Sammy Walker was held scoreless in the Gophers 2020-21 season and home opener against the pre-season 10th ranked Nittany Lions. Sharks prospect Scott Reedy (2017 4th round pick) scored once and added an assist to lead Minnesota offensively and Hurricanes prospect Jack LaFontaine (2016 3rd round pick) allowed just 1 goal on 27 shots.

After a scoreless first period, the Golden Gophers opened up a two goal lead in the 2nd period before Penn State drew the score within 1 with just 27 seconds left in the period.
