Brayden Point and Vasilevskiy were the game’s first and third stars.
It was another sleepy First Period for the Lightning as they were outpossessed handily, but pride and their hatred of Sunrise gave them the fortitude to climb into this game and wrestle it into a win. That intensity and that focus is what the team needs to snap out of this funk. Sometimes it’s just that simple.
Matthew Tkachuk is a sorry punk, and I hope he enjoyed the view of the GWG from the penalty box.
Cole Koepke had 1 shot and 1 hit in 5:27.
Nick Perbix had 2 hits and 1 blocked shot in 11:39. He’s a rookie and he isn’t perfect, but I thought he earned a longer look tonight. His mobility and athleticism are big assets, and the hit he laid on Matthew Tkachuk in the Third Period tonight was a thing of absolute beauty. In a perfect world, I would hope both Perbix and Myers would develop pretty quickly and the Lightning would have one of the more athletic right sides in the league all of a sudden with Cernak, Myers, and Perbix.
