It’s been amazing to see Syracuse turn it around from the early season where they routinely fell into big holes early in games and just generally looked terrible. They’ve climbed out of the basement all the way up to third in the division now and since shoring up their center depth with Mitchell Stephens going to Syracuse for a conditioning stint and the acquisition of Antoine Morand their offense is starting to look more like the vintage Admirals/Crunch offense of Lightning farm teams yore. As per usual, we praise the warlock ways of Ben Groulx.
There’s obvious plaudits for scorers like Katchouk, Raddysh, etc. to go around, but the undercover story of the season thus far may be the play of defensement Sean Day and Alex Green, who are both over .5 point a game with respectable +/- ratings. For that matter, Devante Stephens is scoring at an even better clip than those two and has a more gaudy +/-. The defense corps for Syracuse was a question mark going into this campaign and they’ve seemingly gelled pretty well as the campaign has progressed.
