Just an aggravating effort all around for the Lightning. Their goaltending gifted Florida at least two goals, which ended up being the margin, but it was a total team meltdown defensively that really hurt the team. I don’t know how many times a team can get caught by Duclair and Vatrano and the like cherry picking on long stretch passes before they start paying attention to it instead of continually surrendering breakaways and odd man rushes. It just wasn’t good enough. Florida’s got nothing to feel good about damned near choking two three goal leads, but it just wasn’t good enough.
Alexander Volkov had 2 goals and was +2 with 2 shots and 1 blocked shot in 9:27. I don’t know if Maroon asked the scorer to give the second goal to Volkov on the simultaneous touch, but either way tonight showed off the NHL shot that Volkov possesses.
