Rochester Leads the Series 2-0

Brandon Halverson allowed three goals on 22 shots for the loss. He held his team in the game with a handful of huge timely saves until late in the Second Period, but just didn’t get the goal support.

First Period
10:37 ROC Helenius (1), (Clague, Kozak)

Second Period
19:46 ROC Kulich (1), (Clague, Dunne)(PP)

Third Period
5:53 ROC Clague (2), (Kulich)
15:10 ROC Rosen (1), (Rathbone)(EN)

Syracuse outshot Rochester 35-22 in the game, largely on the strength of a huge possession advantage in the final 40 minutes of the game. They just couldn’t break Devon Levi, and the quality advantage of the Baby Sabres came into play today with goals by three separate first rounders and a second round pick. Rochester’s got a loaded roster and that’s what makes them a difficult matchup for the lunch pail Crunch, especially when their goaltender is standing on their head.

The scene shifts to Syracuse for a couple of games, but in this best-of-five series the Crunch now know that every game will be an elimination game. Hopefully the floodgates open in Game Three before their season comes to a close.
