Syracuse has drawn a tough assignment with Rochester given Buffalo’s season is over and the Americans have a roster loaded with some high-quality talent. The mostly healthy Crunch proved they could stand toe-to-toe with Rochester tonight and even staked themselves to a 2-0 lead early in the Second Period, but allowed three unanswered goals. It’s a shame because stealing Game One would’ve really put Rochester behind the eight ball in a short best-of-five series. Rochester outshot Syracuse 30-27 in the contest with the bulk of their shots coming in a scoreless 16 shot First Period.
Dylan Duke scored his first career AHL playoff goal in the loss.
Game Two is slated for Sunday, again in Rochester.
