A strange game that started with Brayden Point being scratched for missing a team meeting and included Ryan McDonagh missing most of the Third Period after taking a puck to the face. In between, the Lightning gave all the oxygen to an opportunistic Boston team by failing to defend with any intensity while looking incapable to bury the spate of chances the Bruins surrendered to them at the other end. Burn the tape.
Conor Geekie had a goal and was +1 with 2 shots and 3 hits in 13:41. He was also 60% on 5 draws. He will graduate from prospect status with his next appearance this season.
Mitchell Chaffee was -1 with 2 penalty minutes and 3 hits in 9:58. Chaffee’s now three appearances away from graduation from prospect status.
Jack Finley was +1 with 1 shot and 1 hit in 8:25 in his NHL debut. He was also 60% on 5 draws. Athletically I thought he looked the part chewing up a ton of ice with his long strides. Where I would hope to see improvement as time goes on is with positioning to get in on plays a little quicker and be in better body position to use his size to his advantage.
Emil Lilleberg was -2 with 5 penalty minutes in 19:20. In his fight with Frederic, he didn’t not play it close to the vest. Had he landed some of those bombs he was throwing he might be up the river for a homicide at this hour. Lilleberg’s two appearances from graduation from prospect status.
