Lightning stifle streaking Caps.
WSH-0
TB-3
Andrei Vasilevskiy stopped all 31 shots he faced for the shutout victory. Classic game for 88 as he helped the team ride out some storms and bought them time to build a lead and get the game all the way into garbage time.

Vasilevskiy, Conor Geekie, and Mitchell Chaffee were the game’s three stars.
Despite being outshot 31-20 in the contest, the Lightning got their ninth and tenth points of the season. They just need two more in the next two games to clinch a successful opening 10 game segment of the year. That’s an outstanding outcome given the roster turnover and that the team should get better as they gain continuity with more reps together, particularly on special teams.
Geekie got his first NHL goal and was +1 with 1 shot and 1 blocked shot in 13:26.
Chaffee also had a goal and was +1 with 1 shot and 2 hits in 14:23 and a good backcheck to pickpocket Ovechkin on a potential scoring chance.
Emil Lilleberg was +1 with 7 penalty minutes and 1 hit in 14:26.
