The mistakes still aren’t being cleaned up, but at least the intensity is finally getting where it needed to be, and Cooper benching Stamkos, Kucherov, and Point in the Third Period makes this feel like the beginning of a turning point. The Lightning played a physical, nasty game today punctuated by Tanner Jeannot’s vicious knockout of Riley Stillman, and that was something we haven’t seen in a while. Playoff-level snarl. Let’s see if the focus and details now follow.

Mikey Eyssimont had 2 penalty minutes, 1 shot, and 4 hits in 12:20. He doesn’t appear to know what he’s doing in the defensive third yet, but in the other two zones you see why the Lightning acquired him. My personal hope is that with some coaching his career can follow the Yanni Gourde trajectory and hopefully he gets trustworthy enough defensively they can flex him inside to center some.

Darren Raddysh had 1 shot and 1 blocked shot in 12:20. He’s struggling with the adjustment to the speed at the NHL. Too much in his own head.
