SYR-6

Hugo Alnefelt allowed one goal on 32 shots for the victory. Big game goaltending when it was needed.

First Period
10:13 SYR Edmonds (14), (Robert, Day)
15:57 SYR Robert (16), (Edmonds, Dumont)
18:37 SYR Barre-Boulet (20), (Goncalves, Carrick)(PP)

Second Period
4:22 UTI Walsh (6), (Gambardella, Clarke)(PP)
11:49 SYR Koepke (7), (Walcott, Carlile)(SH)
13:01 SYR Carrick (14), (Goncalves, Dumont)(PP)

Third Period
7:09 SYR Edmonds (15), (Robert, Day)

Lucas Edmonds, Alnefelt, and Sean Day were the game’s three stars. Edmonds’ second half may be one of the two biggest stories of the season, prospect-wise, behind Alnefelt’s emergence. In Edmonds’ last 16 games he has 12-5-17.

With Rochester defeating Cleveland earlier today, Syracuse momentarily had dropped to fourth in the North Division. The Crunch’s big win vaulted them back into third in the division by a point and moved them to within a point of Utica for second in the division with a game in hand. Recall that the top three teams in the division receive an opening round bye and avoid a best-of-three opening round series. That’s how massive today’s win was.

Nine games remain in the regular season. They’re all going to be big now with the margins absolutely razor thin.
