Syracuse extends winning streak in a rare defensive struggle.

SYR-2
UTI-0

Max Lagace stopped all 25 shots he faces for the shutout win. He raised his season save percentage to .881 in the process. He had a big second half last year. Perhaps the organization is hoping for the same this season?

Lagace, Alex Barre-Boulet, and Gabriel Dumont were the game’s three stars.

Talented former fifth rounder Jaydon Dureau has skipped up and down between Syracuse and the Coast this season. This was his first AHL tilt since very early November and he immediately rewarded the team with a big insurance marker.

Syracuse draws into a tie with Rochester for fourth in the division at 41 points, although the Americans hold a game in hand. They also moved to within three points of the Comets for second place and Syracuse holds a game in hand on Utica. Right now, Toronto holds a clear edge atop the division with a slight separation between the next three teams (Utica, Rochester, and Syracuse) and the bottom three (Laval, Belleville, and Cleveland). The top five make the postseason, so it behooves the Crunch to keep building their gap on the bottom three.
