Victor Hedman and Nikita Kucherov were the game’s first and second stars.

Due to injuries and salary cap constraints, the Lightning were forced to play this game with just four defensemen dressed. Despite having to play an unholy 32:18 in the game, Hedman led the way with 2-1-3, a +2 rating, tied for the team lead in shots with four, and led in shot attempts with seven. From time to time you hear some folks in the hockey media discounting Victor Hedman’s status as this generation’s top defenseman. As far as I’m concerned, he just proved again that he’s that guy hands down.

Tampa Bay concludes the first half of its regular season campaign on a pace for 118 points. That’ll do. That’ll do.

Boris Katchouk had 2 shots and 1 hit in 7:34.

Taylor Raddysh was -2 with 1 shot and 1 hit in 9:58.

Cal Foote had 1 shot, 1 hit, and 2 blocked shots in 25:01. He was pressed into a lot of minutes against a pretty quick team and survived it. Full merits to young Cal.

Ross Colton had 2 hits in 8:17 and was 17% on six draws.
