Game Day 4/9: Lightning at Panthers

Regardless of the outcome, we know what the Panthers have awaiting them. TB-3 FLA-6 John Grahame stopped 42 of 47 in a game that saw a complete third period collapse by the Lightning. Game Night 4/8: Penguins at Lightning

Old man Burke is staking his claim on the starting job. PIT-0 TB-1 Sean Burke stopped 25 of 25 for the shutout. Vincent Lecavalier scored the game's only goal. Ryan Craig played 15:24 with 1 shot, 1 hit and 1 block. Paul Ranger played 14:05 with 2 blocked shots. Evgeny Artyukhin played 6:02 with 1 shot and 1 hit. Game sheet from NHL.com.

Game Night 4/6: Thrashers at Lightning

The Lightning had an opportunity to put the stake completely through the Thrashers' heart tonight. They only managed to drive the stake halfway through. ATL-2 TB-3 (SO) It was Sean Burke versus Mike Dunham in a matchup of the two slowest goaltenders in the league. Burke stopped 29 of 31 before stopping 2 of 3 in penalty shots. This I know for certain: Brad Richards is money in shootouts. Ryan Craig scored the 15th goal of his rookie season on the power play. Pavel Kubina's return tonight pushes Timo Helbling out of the lineup. Paul Ranger played 18:41 with 1 shot and 4 blocked shots. Craig was -1 in 15:37 with 4 shots and 1 block. Evgeny Artyukhin played 5:19 with 1 hit. Game sheet from NHL.com.

Game Night 4/3: Panthers at Lightning

The natural balance of the universe reestablished as this loss almost certainly seals the Panthers' place in the draft lottery. FLA-1 TB-4 Sean Burke stopped 29 of 30 shots faced in the victory. Vicent Lecavalier carried the Lightning with 2 goals and an assist while Fredrik Modin hit a milestone with his 30th goal of the season. With his 41st NHL game, Ryan Craig also graduated from prospect status here on Bolt Prospects. Paul Ranger was a very nice +3 in 21:00 of ice time with 3 shots and one block. Ryan Craig was -1 in 16:16 with 4 shots, 1 hit and 1 block. Timo Helbling played just 2:18 with 1 hit but he wasn't the low man in ice time because Evgeny Artyukhin received just 2:06 of ice time with 1 shot on goal. Both players were even. Helbling's ice time was cut with the return of Dan Boyle to the lineup which forced Doug O'Brien out of the game sheet altogether. Return of the HF Hacks

You know its sad when a guy who ran the print magazine version of HockeysFuture into the ground after just 3 issues has more credibility than the current band of hacks that occupy the editorial position at that empty shell of a website. And yet, that's where we are. Shane Malloy has more journalistic credibility than Holly Gunning (HF's online editor) and Ken McKenna (HF's managing editor). How do I know this? Because Shane Malloy actually did a shred of homework before writing an article about the Lightning organization and Gunning and company clearly didn't. HockeysFuture released their Spring organizational rankings today, and first let me say it's a really bright thing to release rankings a week and a half into the CHL playoffs. After all, it's not like the postseason is important or anything. Yes Holly, that's sarcasm. In any event, once again the biased HockeysFuture editorial staff and their intrepid band of statistic cut and pasters have pegged the Lightning 30th in the league in terms of prospects. On the eve of the graduation of the third Lightning prospect the club has placed into the NHL this season no less! Gotta give 'em credit for having chutzpah. No clue, but they've definitely got chutzpah.
