Femenella's College Career Ends on the Injured List
Submitted by Nigel on March 9, 2007 - 15:25According to the University of Vermont Athletic Department, defenseman Art Femenella will be out for the remainder of his senior season as he was placed on the extended injury list. Vermont Head Athletic Trainer Allison Shepherd told the Burlington Free Press Femenella sustained a wrist injury that will require surgery.
Femenella, a 6',7" 255-pound native of Annandale, New Jersey, played in just 13 games this season, registering a goal and two assists to go along with 42 penalty minutes and a plus-2 rating. He missed all but eight games of his junior season injured and he battled injuries in both his freshman (27 games) and sophomore (21 games) years when he played both wing and defense.
A beast for Sioux City of the USHL known for his fighting skills, it was Femenella's hope to use hockey to gain a college education and he did just that. A public communication major, Femenella finishes his collegiate career at Vermont with two goals and two assists for four points in 69 regular season games. He also had 172 penalty minutes.
#19 Vermont won game one of their first round series in the Hockey East Tournament against #8 Boston University last night 3-2.

Tampa Tribune: Ranger has Partially Torn MCL
Submitted by chad on March 8, 2007 - 14:09The Tampa Tribune is reporting Lightning defenseman Paul Ranger is out indefinitely with a partially torn MCL in his left knee. Ranger was injured in last night's 3-1 Lightning win over the Edmonton Oilers when Raffi Torres fell on his knee. Filip Kuba was a healthy scratch last night in favor of Doug Janik, so expect Kuba to regain his spot in the lineup with Luke Richardson moving back into the No.7 spot.

Keller to Return This Weekend
Submitted by pete on February 1, 2007 - 17:10In an interview for the Springfield Falcons' website, FalconsAHL.com, Springfield Head Coach Steve Stirling has announced that forward Justin Keller will return this weekend after missing over a month with a high ankle sprain. Before his injury, Keller had been playing well on a line with fellow Lightning prospects Blair Jones and Marek Kvapil and the young left winger's return could offer a shot in the arm to the team's anemic offensive attack. In 29 game this season Keller has 9 goals and 17 points with 10 penalty minutes and a -7 rating.
