The long time New Jersey Devil and Minnesota Wild alum brings a considerable amount of professional experience to the team with 356 games of NHL service to his credit. By inking the stay-at-home defenseman, the Falcons' roster has ballooned to 25 players, 9 of whom now are defensemen. The Falcons' season begins Saturday against the Portland Pirates.

Lascek Lighting It Up

Chicoutimi Sagueneens winger Stanislav Lascek moved into third place among QMJHL scorers Monday night with a goal and an assist in a 4-2 win over Gatineau. Lascek now has eight goals and six assists in six games and should easily surpass the 18 goals he scored last year. Since being shutout in his first game this season, Lascek has scored at least one goal and two points in his last five games. Against Gatineau, Lascek was plus-one and had two penalty minutes. His goal was score shorthanded, his league-leading third shorthanded marker of the year.

Lightning/Rogers Face Monday Signing Deadline

According to Erik Erlendsson of the Trib, the Lightning are currently in contract negotiations with 19 year old defenseman Andy Rogers. The deadline to sign Rogers will be at 5pm Monday otherwise Rogers will have to be returned to his junior team, Prince George of the WHL. The mere fact that the Lightning are seriously discussing a contract with Rogers is likely an indication the club is favoring the blueliner over his competitor Timo Helbling. However, nothing is set in stone, and the team could still return Rogers to junior within 10 NHL games played.

Game Day 10/2: Wolfpack at Falcons (Exhibition)

Today's game represents one last chance to impress for bubble players looking to avoid reassignment to Johnstown of the ECHL. Among the players possibly in danger of missing the cut are: Morgan Cey, Zbynek Hrdel, J.F. Soucy, Brandon Elliot, Gerald Coleman and Dennis Packard. On a personal note, I'm plunking down the $6 for B2 Network's cybercast. Pretty good quality thus far. Looks like Eklund starting with Coleman backing up.
