Kevin Beech stopped 25 of 26 shots faced to guide Sudbury to a 2-1 victory over Sault Ste. Marie. With the win, Beech's record improves to 4-5-0 with 1 shutout and his save percentage improves to .902 on the season. The 2005 6th round pick faces an uphill battle to get signed next summer with the Lightning boasting as many as five quality goaltending prospects (Ramo, Helenius, Koshechkin, Boutin and Coleman) ahead of him on the organizational depth chart.

According to the Prince George Citizen (no link available), 2005 Lightning first round pick Vladimir Mihalik separated his shoulder and will miss at least a few games. Mihalik was a victim of a check-from-behind in a 6-0 Cougar loss to Vancouver on October 6. No penalty was called on the play. He was supposedly seen wearing a sling before their game last night against Swift Current. Cougars Head Coach Mike Vandekamp is concerned about Mihalik "getting rusty by the day," as well as some of his other injured impact players. The Cougars are off to a slow start at 2-4-0-1. CHL Game Night: 10/10 Dane Crowley and Swift Current shutout Prince George 4-0 on Tuesday night. Crowley did not register a point and was even in the game. Mihalik did not play. Also, David Desharnais, who spurned the Johnstown Chiefs and returned to the QMJHL, is now wearing the captain's C for Chicoutimi. Desharnais had an assist last night in a 6-2 Sags loss to Quebec. In three games this season, he's 1-2-3 with a -3 rating. He was 33-85-118 in 63 games last season.

Three games. Four goals. Not good. ATL-1 TB-0 Marc Denis got nothing for his 18 save on 19 shot effort tonight, and what is deeply concerning is not only are "the big three" not scoring but, with the exception of Martin St. Louis, they're not even getting chances. Hopefully the sieve-like Florida Panthers, which 55 minutes in has already allowed 44 shots to Toronto tonight, will be the balm the ailing Lightning offense needs.
