Chiefs Sign Hedberg

No, not that Hedberg. The Johnstown Chiefs today [url=http://www.echl.com/cgi-bin/mpublic.cgi?action=show_news&cat=1&id=7170]signed defenseman Jon Hedberg and announced that winger Joe Tallari has been recalled to Bridgeport of the AHL.[/url] Hedberg, a 6'0" 200 lb American born blueliner, just completed his senior season for York University in the Canadian CIS where he led his team in scoring with 22 points in 23 games. Prior to college Hedberg played three seasons in the OHL between Guelph, Oshawa and Sault Ste Marie. His career season in junior came in 2000-2001 when he scored 8 goals and 30 points in 65 games between Guelph and Oshawa. Hedberg was teammates in Oshawa with Lightning defenseman Paul Ranger from 2000-2002. The native of Duluth, Minnesota was undrafted out of junior.

Game Night 3/1: Falcons at Phantoms

Koshechkin Scores Big Win For Lada

The two best goaltenders in Russia squared off today and it took overtime to settle the score. Lada Togliatti got an overtime goal past Magnitogorsk backstop Travis Scott to gain a 2-1 victory for Vasily Koshechkin. His record improves to 17-12-6. Elsewhere, Alexei Glukhov had his second goal of the season as Khimik MO topped KHK MVD 5-3. Also, Albert Vishnyakov scored his 9th goal of the season as Dynamo topped Chekhov 3-1.
