University of Maine defenseman Mike Lundin recently missed the better part of four games due to an injury suffered when he was slashed on the right hand vs. Merrimack. The tip of Lundin's little finger was nearly sliced completely off and doctors at the game had to re-attach it. He also suffered a broken bone in his finger in the incident. Yesterday Lundin told the Bangor News that the finger is healing nicely as he gets ready for the team's Frozen Four match-up against Wisconsin. "It feels a lot better now," he said. "I can move it around. Before, when I'd move it around, I felt a tug, and I didn't want that to happen because it could damage it."

Johnstown's size made road kill out of Dayton. JHN-5 DAY-2 Josh Disher stopped 42 of 44 shots faced in his Johnstown debut. Dennis Packard had 3 assists and Andre Deveaux also had a helper to go along with John Toffey's 6th goal of the season. I watched the game on B2. Bottom line: the goaltending was wretched tonight (4 soft goals between Boutin and Coleman) and several Falcons players look like they're thinking about tee times more than finishing the season strong. Plus you have 2 debuting defenseman and Tarnasky making up 1/2 of your blueline corps tonight thanks to injuries to Schultz and Rosehill. A huge win, and a first for Paul Ranger. ATL-3 TB-4 John Grahame stopped 19 of 22 in the win. Tampa staked itself to a 4-0 lead before allowing Atlanta to get close in garbage time. No harm no foul as the Lightning get away with the 4-3 win. Paul Ranger scored his first NHL goal in the game on a long point shot and because of Atlanta's three goals late it turned out to be the game winning goal. The other rookie blueliners played very very sparingly, and the best compliment I can bay them is that I didn't really notice either O'Brien or Helbling with the exception of a mistake Timo made late in the game. Ranger led all Lightning rookies with 22:26 of ice time with 1 shot, 1 hit and 2 blocked shots. Ryan Craig was -1 in 16:06 with 1 shot, 1 hit and 1 blocked shot. Timo Helbling played 11:11 and was +1 with 1 hit and 1 blocked shot. Evegeny Artyukhin played an effective 4:44 with 2 shots and 1 hit. Doug O'Brien was the low man in ice time with 3:24 of even hockey with 1 blocked shot. Game sheet from NHL.com.
