NCAA Weekend Wrap up...

My apologies for the tardiness....I spent the weekend moving back to the Tampa area.

Mike Lundin and #7 Maine had a tough weekend, splitting the series with Northeastern. Maine dropped Friday's game 6-1 and needing overtime on Saturday to beat the Huskies 2-1. Lundin was scoreless for the series and finished a -4 with 2 PIM.

John Wessbecker and UMASS had a pretty good weekend, knocking off rival UMASS-Lowell on Friday 6-3. Wessbecker was a +2 with 2 PIM. On Saturday, the Minutemen drew a tie against another rival in #6 Boston University 3-3. Wessbecker was +1.

Northern Michigan and center Dusty Collins took a hard hit in the standings, being swept by Nebraska-Omaha. They fell Friday 6-3 and Saturday 6-1. Collins was scoreless and -2 in Friday's contest and Saturday compiled a total of 14 PIM, given a 10-minute misconduct toward the end of the game.

CHL Game Night: 1/28

Mississauga is putting up goal-totals like it's in the Q.

Chris Lawrence continued his hot streak with a goal and 2 assists as Mississauga put up double-digits on Kingston, 10-2. Lawrence's goal was his 35th of the year. He was also plus-2 and had 4 PIM, which included 2 minutes for "check-to-the-head." He was named the game's third star.

Dane Crowley and Everett needed overtime to beat expansion Chilliwack, 4-3. Crowley had an assist in the game and was plus-1.

Note: Lightning CHL stat update coming soon.

Ramo Wins Best Goaltender at AHL Skills Competition

Have we mentioned he's just 20? Karri Ramo continued to expand his reputation as a wunderkind tonight in winning the Top Goaltender Award at the AHL Skills Competition. Ramo tied for best in the competition with 15 saves including 7 of 10 in the rapid fire, 3 of 3 in the 3-on-0 event and 4
5 of 6 in the breakaway event. Congratulations to Karri on another great night in an already great rookie season.

ECHL Game Day 1/28: Bombers at Chiefs

Unfortunately, it looks like things might be getting a little worse in Johnstown before they get better.

DAY-3
JHN-1

Gerald Coleman stopped 29 of 32 shots faced in his first start since returning from a groin injury. Randy Rowe scored the lone Chiefs goal off an assist from Jean Desrochers. Rowe was named the third star of the game.

One small editorial: where is Zbynek Hrdel? Other than the side of a milk carton? Hrdel is scoreless in his last 5 games and has just 1 assist in his last 7 at a level of hockey where he should be a consistent scoring line player. Hrdel has another year on his contract after this one, but he's quietly playing himself out of the organization, in my opinion, unless he starts to pick it up.

First Period
DAY Herneisen, (7) (Tifu, Maiser), 14:35

Second Period
DAY Walton, (11) (Farynuk, Maiser), 2:13 (PP)
JHN Rowe, (11) (Desrochers), 6:13

Third Period
DAY Cullen, (5) (Farynuk, Ford), 1:29 (PP)
