Admirals Sign Campbell to PTO

The Norfolk Admirals have announced the signing of forward Jeff Campbell to a professional tryout contract. Campbell, 26, has spent most of the past four seasons with Gwinnett of the ECHL, but played a majority of last season with the Grand Rapids Griffins of the AHL where he posted 10 goals and 31 points in 61 games. His career season as a professional came in 2005-2006 with Gwinnett when he compiled 30 goals and 83 points in 62 games. The 5'9" 170 lbs. right winger is a product of Western Michigan University where his best season came as a freshman scoring 26 goals and 53 points in 37 games.

Both Lightning prospects registered a goal in the game, with Crowley scoring a first period power play goal to tie the game at one, and Fadden scoring shorthanded into an empty net to give the game its final score. Fadden also assisted on the game’s opening goal, on the power play. Lethbridge has earned at least a point in its last 7 games.

Prince George Cougars 4 @ Vancouver Giants 7
C/W Dana Tyrell, PG: 0-1-1, +2, 4 PIM (hooking, checking-from-behind)

Prince George hung with the CHL’s eighth ranked team until the Giants blew a tie game open in the third period with three straight goals and four total. Tyrell’s assist came on the power play.

G Torrie Jung, KEL: Did Not Play.

Kristofer Westblom stopped 21 of 23 for Kelowna in his fourth straight start. It appears the only action Jung will get from hereon out will be spot duty and back-to-back sets.

The Chilliwack Bruins survived a 16-6 third period shots-on-goal onslaught to defeat Prince George and reigning WHL Player of the Week Dana Tyrell, who saw his 7 game point streak come to an end. Tyrell has at least a point in 13 of 17 games this year. WHL goal leader and LA Kings 2007 second rounder Oscar Moller scored twice for the Bruins. Moller has 20 goals on the year and an astounding 17 in his last 9 games.

Crowley and Everett improved to 3-1 on their road trip. Crowley’s goal came on the power play when he one-timed a pass from the point. He earned a secondary assist on the game’s final goal. Crowley will face Lightning prospect Mitch Fadden and Lethbridge tonight (Wednesday).
