CHL Game Night: 1/6

Chris Lawrence scored his 24th goal of the year and added two assists to help Mississauga to a 4-2 home win over Oshawa this afternoon. He was also plus-1. The 6-4 winger opened the game with a power play goal before adding a power play assist with 5 minutes left in the second period. He then set up fellow winger Jadran Beljo with 6 seconds left in the middle period to give the Ice Dogs a 4-1 lead.

Marek Bartanus has yet to join Owen Sound following the conclusion of the WJCs in Sweden. The Attack fell at home to Kingston tonight 4-3.

Kevin Beech had a good showing for the second night in a row - but Beech and Sudbury lost in a shootout for the second night in a row. Beech stopped 30 of 31 shots in regulation and overtime before stopping 1 of 2 attempts in the shootout. The Wolves went 0 for 3 in the shootout and Sault Ste. Marie took the win, 2-1. Sudbury's Patrik Lusnak had scored with 2 seconds left in regulation to send the game into overtime. Beech was named the game's second star for his efforts.

In the WHL, Dane Crowley and Swift Current fell 6-2 on the road in Regina, one night after crushing the Pats 9-0 in Swift Current. Crowley, who had a goal last night, was scoreless tonight with a minus-1 rating and had an early first period fighting major vs. Mike Reich. Reich earned a 10-minute misconduct in addition to a fighting major.

Andreas Holmqvist had an assist in Linkopings' 4-1 win over Lulea. Holmqvist has been playing regularly on his club's second pairing and now has 5 goals and 16 points in 34 games. The point extends Holmqvist's scoring streak to 4 games.

AHL Game Night 1/6: Wolf Pack at Falcons

Jonathan Boutin allowed 5 goals on 34 shots faced including 4 goals in a second period that saw the birds get outshot 22-4 by Hartford. Damn. Andy Delmore led the Falcons with a pair of first period power play goals and Maxime Boisclair added his first career AHL goal, a power play talley. Individual helpers belonged to Blair Jones, Doug O'Brien, David Spina, Eric Healey, Zdenek Blatny and Matt Smaby. Smaby now has 4 points in his last 7 games. Springfield draws Providence at 4pm tomorrow afternoon. Portland moved back into a tie for 2nd in the Atlantic with a win over Worcester tonight and Hartford, after an abysmal start to their season, has now pulled into third place just 2 points back of the Falcons and Pirates.

ECHL Game Night 1/6: Chiefs at Lynx

The Midterm Evaluation rolls on as the Chiefs roll into Augusta, Ga and the James Brown Arena as Johnstown tries to prove "they've got soul and they're super bad" and Augusta is just "talkin' loud and saying nothing." Hate the outcome. Loved the style of play from these two teams matching up.
