The Junior picked up his second assist of the year on Will Ortiz's second period goal. Wessbecker was moved to the top defensive pairing. The Minutemen (2-1-1) play Providence (0-4-0) in a home and home next weekend.
Freshman Kevin Quick was a healthy scratch in #6 Michigan's 4-3 win over Northern Michigan, Saturday night. Michigan (3-1-0) host Boston University (0-2-1) next weekend.

Quick recorded one shot on net in Michigan's (2-1-0) 3-1 win over Northern Michigan(1-2-0). The Wolverines outshot the Wildcats 30-14. The two teams face each other tonight again in Marquette, Mich.

UMASS (1-1-1) plays to a tie against in-state and Hockey East rival UMASS-Lowell (0-0-1) to open their conference play. The Minutemen host Connecticut (1-0-0) tonight in a non-conference match-up.

Defensemen John Wessbecker picked up an assist on Chris Davis' third period shorthanded goal that put the Minutemen up by two at 4:11 into the period. Wessbecker finished a +2.

Freshman Kevin Quick made his college debut tonight as the Wolverines dropped the four team tournament championship to Minnesota. Quick finished scoreless and a +1.

Junior defensemen, John Wessbecker was scoreless and even in UMASS'( 0-1-0) first game of the season, a non-conference match-up with No. 7 Clarkson (1-1-0). According to the www.collegehockeynews.com boxscore, Wessbecker played on the third defensive pairing with junior Topher Bevis.
In 38 games last season, Wessbecker had one goal and no assists. He picked up 14 PIM and was a +7.
The Minutemen are in Canton, NY tonight as they face No. 12 St. Lawerence (2-0-0) in a non-conference game. The Saints defeated Providence 4-1 on Friday night.

NCAA Exhibition 10/8: Quick Makes Michigan Debut

Western Ontario 1 @ No.10 Michigan 6
D Kevin Quick, MICH: 0-0-0, +2, 2 SOG
Quick, a freshman, made his Michigan debut for the Wolverines and was involved in some scoring chances but did not register a point in the exhibition game. According to MGoBlue.com, Quick jumped into a play and took a drop pass from Michigan captain and Phoenix Coyote draft pick Kevin Porter, firing a one-timer blocker side on the UWO goaltender Brad Topping, who got a piece of the shot. Michigan held their Blue vs. White game on Saturday. Quick, who is wearing No.27, did not register a point and was even with a shot on goal in the intrasquad game for Team White, who lost 6-3.

The University of Massachusetts opened their 2007-2008 season with an exhibition win over Trois-Rivieres. Wessbecker, a junior and former seventh round pick, is coming off a sophomore year in which he registered one point on a goal.
